Asphyxiation, a humble dedication to the relationship between Nowaki and Hiroki (Junjou Egoist) from Junjou Romantica, has been online since January 21, 2009. It went offline some time in October 2016 because of its previous location expiring (sakuchi.org) and officially returned online on January 2019 at enraptur.es. It's my very first fansite. ❤

I was hesitant to create Asphyxiation because there weren't any boys' love tributes around during its creation — at least from what I've seen. The idea of being a pioneer of sorts without a point of reference was scary, haha. My love couldn't be denied however and with Masao's help and encouragement, Asphyxiation entered the internet world. ❤

Asphyxiation was a milestone for me — my very first shrine omg! — so I was very happy and proud of myself, hehe~ This site has also been a source of comfort during one of the toughest times in life many years ago. Asphyxiation and Egoist are very special to me and even as the years go by, Egoist will continue to have a significant place in my heart. ❤

what's in a name?

Site title was inspired by an old blog buddy's design for her crack otp. She titled the design "asphyxiation" if I remember correctly. It's been almost a decade so to be honest, I don't remember what said otp was. It's what happens when you get old and don't even bother to mention what said pairing was in the first place. /hit Whenever I think of crack!otp, I think about my own, ahaha. It probably doesn't help that one of my crack ships has a fic titled Asphyxiation, lmao. ❤ Now that I think about it though, it might just be my said crack!otp...

asphyxiation: — noun. the condition of being deprived of oxygen (as by having breathing stopped); "asphyxiation is sometimes used as a form of torture."

I thought it was perfect for Nowaki and Hiroki's relationship considering the whirlwind of emotions Nowaki imparts Hiroki with and vice versa. Hiroki wasn't prepared to fall in love wholly and what being in a relationship entails; it's not always sunshine and roses. It's also inspired by Hiroki's words in act --/ ep.-- which reflects how both feel about each other even if they are only said by Hiroki.
